FAQ’s About Becoming A Trinion Caregiver

Becoming a caregiver can open the doors to a satisfying career focused on helping oth-ers.  Whether you have arrived at our site because a friend or family member has asked you to become a caregiver or because you are an experienced personal care assistant, we have prepared the following information to answer your questions.

You can apply in person Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at our office located at 3700 Woodland Drive, Suite 500 in Anchorage.  We are closed between 12-1pm daily for lunch. You may also download an application and email it, along with a cover letter and/or resume to hr@tinionqcs.com.  We also accept completed applications via fax, at 907-644-4438.

After we have had the opportunity to review your application and resume, we may contact you for an interview.  If you are hired, you will receive paid training before your first assignment.

You must have a current CPR/FA certification to be a personal care assistant to any of our covered Medicaid clients.

You must be able to pass a federal and state background check and possess a high school diploma or GED. An Alaska PCA training certificate or active Alaska CNA license may also required, as is proof of CPR/First Aid certification from a State of Alaska Senior and Disability Services-accepted provider. It is important that for the benefit of our clients, all Trinion employees possess the ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. A negative TB screening will be verified. A valid Alaska driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is also required.

As part of our hiring process, we do require three letters of reference from individuals you have known for a minimum of three years. One letter may be a personal reference; the other two must be professional references. Letters from a spouse or from a current Trinion employee will not be considered.

Our caregivers provide personal hands-on-care in the home for elderly and/or disabled of all ages. Tasks are based on a plan of care created for each individual client, and can include:

  • Providing physical support in daily movements and/or range of motion exercises.
  • Assisting with eating and meal planning, preparation and clean up; dressing and bathing/hygiene and more
  • Light to heavy household cleaning and laundry
  • Assisting with medication (self-administered only)
  • Community inclusion activities with a child or young adult with an ASD (Autism spectrum disorder).
  • Transporting and accompanying clients to medical offices and other destinations
  • Completing required written reports (including weekly provider notes, timekeeping documentation, etc.)

One of the most critical services we provide is providing comfortable companionship for our clients. This means that you may be called on to provide emotional support for those you care for, as well as their family members. So, positive people skills are a must. Being able to handle specific needs based on an individual’s situation is also important. This may include dealing with aggressive behaviors that can be associated with those with Alzheimer’s or Autism. This job can be stressful at times, so having the ability to cope with difficult or trying situations is essential.

As a caregiver, working independently and as part of a committed team is important. This includes the ability to use good judgment in decision-making and problem solving, as well as being reliable and professional, whether in our office or with a client.
